The weed industry is growing fast. More places across the United States are now allowing cannabis for both medical and recreational use, and Canada has quickly become a massive hotspot for weed as adults can legally use it from as early as 18-19 years old. As weed becomes more accepted, more companies have stepped in to provide consumers with better products, more supply, and ways to meet the unique demands of consumers. As such, there are many weed companies to watch in 2019. Some of these focus on mass production, some focus on unique products, and some focus on things such as marijuana delivery and making it easier for consumers to get what they want. Whether you’re an investor looking for the hottest stocks, an entrepreneur looking for inspiration or simply a consumer wanting to know what kind of unique products and services are available, here are 5 of the best weed companies to watch in 2019. 1. Canopy Growth Corp Formerly known as Tweed Marijuana Inc., Canopy Growth Corp has been one of the biggest marijuana companies for a while and it doesn’t show any signs of stopping. Its products can now be found in many stores across the United States and Canada under recognizable brands such as Tweed, Tokyo Smoke, DOJA, and Spectrum Therapeutics. One of its biggest innovations comes from its recent $4 billion investment from Constellation Brands. The company will now work together with the company behind brands such as Corona and Modelo to create a range of cannabis-infused beverages. With a strong foothold in both the cannabis and CBD business, Canopy Growth Corp continues to evolve. Not only is it one of the best stocks for marijuana investors, but it’s also a company well worth keeping your eye on in 2019. In addition to its North America operations, Canopy has also expanded into Jamaica, Chile, Brazil, Denmark, Germany, and Spain, making it an enormous international enterprise. 2. Aurora Cannabis Aurora Cannabis is another one of the major players in the cannabis industry. It’s continuously been one of the most valuable marijuana stocks on the stock market, and the legalization of cannabis in Canada gives Aurora even more potential to expand. The company has a focus on producing high-quality, affordable medical cannabis products and making them available to patients across the nation. They’ve cultivated a range of strains- including some with extraordinarily high CBD levels, along with products such as oral sprays, softgels, and CBD drops. This year, Aurora Cannabis was named the largest producer of cannabis in the world. The company is currently heading towards an output of 780,000 kilos a year, with 1,000,000 a year becoming a very real possibility with their constant expansion. In addition to its Canada operations, it also provides medical marijuana to Germany and the European Union. 3. Weedmaps Weedmaps is a name that most cannabis enthusiasts are already well aware of. It started all the way back in 2008 as a way for medical marijuana patients to connect with each other, share reviews on dispensaries and collectives, and find out where they can get weed in their area. Naturally, the site only became bigger over time. With more and more states and countries legalizing marijuana, Weedmaps has become an invaluable resource for both patients and recreational customers to find local stores to buy weed. Not only can people find local stores and dispensaries, but stores even offer online menus and reviews so consumers can find the products they need when they need them. Weedmaps is also a great resource for cannabis users to check up on reviews on different brands, cannabis industry news, and learn more about cannabis. It’s one of the biggest online resources for weed and, as marijuana becomes legal in more places and more licensed stores open up in 2019, it has the potential for even further growth. 4. Eaze Consumers are always looking for convenient ways to get their weed, and Eaze makes things even easier for cannabis customers. Eaze works much like an Ubereats specifically for marijuana delivery. Users can check for dispensaries in their zip code, order the products they want, and have them sent directly to their door quickly and efficiently. The app was launched back in 2014 to help California medical cannabis patients have their products delivered. Since then, it has become bigger but is unfortunately still limited to California and Oregon, although it also provides hemp delivery in other states. With an easy-to-use interface and a solid platform, Eaze has the potential to grow more as marijuana laws become less restrictive across the states and maybe even further. Eaze may be less useful in places such as Canada, where it’s easy for anyone to buy weed online for delivery. Nonetheless, it has become a widely known app in California and, as more people are turning towards medical cannabis for their symptoms, Eaze is one of the best weed companies to watch in 2019.
It looks like soon, Second Cup, a Canadian coffee chain will sell legal weed. The company hopes to turn up to 130 of its locations in Ontario into legal marijuana dispensaries. The provincial government has created a path for private sector pot sales to start on April 1st of next year. The specialty coffee chain announced last week that these locations would be turned into Meta Cannabis Supply Co. Second Cup and NAC Second Cup partnered with National Access Cannabis and announced it last April. The NAC is a medical cannabis supply manager hoping to expand their marijuana chain, Meta Cannabis Supply Co., in and around Ontario. This decision can be made possible thanks to the change in the legislature that allows private businesses to sell legal cannabis. Mark Goliger is the chief executive officer of NAC. He estimates that Second Cup will end of converting 50 of its existing cafes. Goliger also said that the converted shops would be devoid of any Second Cup branding and would not be “pot cafes”. The Ontario government has not yet set anything in place that would allow for marijuana to be consumed publicly. The SEO of Second Cup, Garry Macdonald, said that this partnership will be beneficial for both businesses. It is for this reason that the Canadian coffee chain will sell legal weed. Why make the change? The decision to convert into marijuana dispensaries is mainly financial. So they estimate that they would be making more money as dispensaries than they are currently as coffee shops. Cities that have declined the retail sale of cannabis will not see these converted Second Cup shops pop up anytime soon. Also, no locations near hospitals of schools will be changed into dispensaries either. Second Cup is the country’s second largest specialty coffee retailer whose main competition is Starbucks and Tim Horton’s. The company was found in Toronto in the mid 70’s and has locations across the globe including some in the UK and the Philippines.
